Oxford, Ohio's Historic B & B
Listed as "Lane's Mill Historic Buildings" on the National Historic Registry since 1980, Sycamore Farms Country Inn was envisioned as an opportunity for guests to experience a lifestyle rapidly vanishing, the family farm. In 1819 the lumber and grain mill located on the creek was a significant hub of commerce in the rapidly expanding communities of Darrtown and Oxford.
As years rolled into centuries, the home has nurtured entrepreneurs, educators, housewives, veterans and politicians. They all shared two common traits, they had a vision for the future, and they were farmers practicing stewardship of the land. They embraced the cutting edge farming of the time, now what we would call technology, but they also balanced the rigorous bustle and demands of daily life with more simple pleasures. They took time to watch the doe tentatively lead her fawns into the clearing, to watch the eagles soaring on the updrafts, and to speculate on the size of the fish on the line.
"Toby and I feel honored to be part of this great cycle, to live in a pre-civil war home, and to provide a window to this lifestyle for our guests. We hope your visit to Sycamore Farms will be woven into fond memories of a gentle time of laughter, snowy moonlit nights, sweet warm summer breezes, babbling brooks, the rustling scented Sycamore leaves, cozy comfort and great food shared with new friends and family".
